On Thursday, September 24th Athlone School celebrated its 50th Anniversary with an afternoon open house and assembly followed by a BBQ in the evening.
It was a privilege to have a number of former staff and students attend. They were able to reminisce by looking through old attendance registers and photo albums in the library. A highlight included the presence of Mr. Alfred Tober, who actually was part of the brick-laying crew who worked on the construction of the school back in 1965.
The BBQ was coordinated by the Athlone Parent Council and was a fun time for all!
A big thank you goes out to all the staff, Parent Council and all the volunteers who helped make this such a successful event.
Special thanks to Adam Melnyk and Bev Villanueva who sat on a planning committee and were a big help getting our plans off the ground.
